The morning of Dec. 8, 1989, is identified as the breakfast where it all began when Judy Singleton, Teresa Lubbers and Melissa Martin met with Senator Lugar. The group came up with a plan to create what we now know as The Lugar Series - an organization dedicated to increasing the preparation, number and influence of Republican women in public office.

 

The first class was selected in the summer of 1990, and now nearly 30 years later, The Lugar Series is still a thriving and respected organization in Indiana. It has also inspired the creation of many similar organizations in the US and abroad. There are nearly 2,000 graduates of the program nationwide.
